Somewhere in New York City in the 1980s, gay men made matchbooks the way people now make Instagram profiles — a name, a number, a little flair, something to press into a stranger's hand in a bar or leave on a table like a calling card. Huggy-Bear made his. The ellipsis, the boast, the Brooklyn address — all of it fit on something you could strike a light with, which feels either perfectly ordinary or profoundly poetic depending on what decade you lived through.

I found the matchbook. I put the text on a shirt. I didn't change a word because there wasn't a word to improve.
